This Site research project was created for the Abingdon Spa design and highlights the varying factors and issues that I was contending with when designing my final undergraduate project
The site analyses began whit a series of ethnographic research objectives that highlighted the local culture and local building and construction industries. This information was than used as part of the conceptual design process to ensure that the building would respond and engage with the local population
Following my initial research of the site I analysed the landscape in more detail, looking at the qualitative nature of the site and observing several existing structures that the new building could utilise or react to in its design.
Finally I chose to use quantitative data to examine the numerous factors that would have an impact on the design such as the ground elevation, flooding risk, tree densities and numerous other forms of data. From this several 3D graphs were composed and layered to find the most suitable location of the site for the building to be constructed on.
